About the route

A real challenge for active trail walkers. The path leads through the Peļļi ravine, carved out by glacial meltwater, whose four lakes form the natural Latvia–Estonia border and allow a visit to the part of Estonia called the Devil’s Land (Paganamaa). Alongside the route you can view the extensive stone heaps of the Vorotka ancient field systems and climb the Paganamaa viewing tower, from which there are views of the Border Ravine with its chain of lakes, as well as of the Latvian hills on the other side of the lakes. The walk can be combined with swimming in Lake Ilgājs and Lake Smilšājs, searching for geocaches and staying overnight at the Nature House at Lake Palpiers or Lake Ilgājs.
