It is rich in interesting natural features formed as a result of melting glaciers, and in diverse cultural heritage sites characteristic only of this area, which lies at the junction of historic highways and the border of two countries. The central feature of the route is Lake Raipals, the deepest lake in the chain of lakes of the Korneti–Peļļi ravine, where learning about nature and history can be combined with swimming in the lake. In addition to the small loop, the large loop includes Sauleskalns, the second highest hill of the Alūksne Upland, and a landscape complemented by the wild horses of the organic farm “Mauriņi”, which shape and maintain natural meadows and pastures.
