Borderland Loop in Veclaicene

The route crosses the Latvian–Estonian border several times and leads through an area that has protected territory status in both countries. On the Estonian side this territory is called Paganamaa, or the Devil’s Land, and many tales and legends are associated with it. On the Latvian side it has long been called the “Switzerland of Maliena”, where some of the most splendid landscapes of Northern Latvia can be enjoyed.
