Kvēpene Short Circular Route

The Kvēpene Short Loop leads through picturesque forests and rural landscapes in Raiskums Parish, allowing visitors to discover the surroundings of Kvēpene Hillfort and the ancient Kvēpene Caves. The route alternates between pine forests with hills and small ravines, and along the way there are views of the Gauja ancient valley and the tranquil landscapes of Vidzeme. The terrain varies, from forest trails to country roads that at times lead deeper into the silence, away from human footsteps.

The loop is suitable for both walkers and cyclists – it is varied enough to retain a sense of adventure. The route is best enjoyed in autumn, when the forest glows in the colours of the leaves, or in spring and summer, when greenery surrounds the route and a light breeze comes from the Gauja. In winter it is possible to take a peaceful walk through snowy forests or to cycle in winter conditions, if the weather permits.
